If you haven’t read this series, you need to start at the beginning. I haven’t cried over a book in a long time.

A lot happens in those last two hundred pages and we see the true intentions of several characters. The last two hundred pages of Queen of Shadows had me clutching the book, unwilling to set it down. I loved him the minute he showed up on the page in Heir of Fire and I love him in this book too. In spite of her best intentions, she develops attachments and grows to love the people around her. She’s still the gritty, tough girl that’s too smart and too dangerous for her own good, but she’s also fiercely loyal to her friends. I love that Aelin has embraced her true identity, but that she hangs on to the old girl she used to be in the first book. She becomes a character with more depth and I don’t think her role is anywhere near finished. I remember getting a little annoyed with the Manon chapters in Heir of Fire, but she grew on me during this book.

We see a lot of Arobynn in this book and we’re introduced to some new characters as well as some characters that haven’t had much page time before now. Aelin/Celaena goes back to Rifthold to face her past, fight for her people, and fight for her friends. This series just keeps getting better and better.
